Revelations 11 (Part 2) Only Measure What is Important

By Odon Bulamba (17 February 2006) Summary only

Rev 11:2, “But the court which is without the temple, measure it not; for it is given to the Gentiles: and the holy city they shall tread under foot forty and two months”.

God told him to measure the temple but not all of it and our bodies represent the temple of God, so what shall we not measure?

1. Your beauty
God doesn’t care about the outward appearance; that is left for the Gentiles. It is better to spend time making our souls beautiful than our outside.

2. Money
God doesn’t need money but many people because of money will put God aside and give His place to money and that is for the Gentiles. Mt 6:25,26, don’t worry about your life, go to God if you have needs. You have to learn to live on a daily basis and don’t worry about tomorrow, God holds your future in His hands.

3. Intelligence
Gentiles used to meet at church to impress others with their knowledge and today we sometimes think we are greater than others because we are better at singing or dancing and that pushes us to minimize others but who are we to tell God He doesn’t know what He is doing.

Rev 11:2,and the holy city they shall tread under foot forty and two months”, this is 1672 days and represents the 3 ½ years of Daniel and now grace will be removed and Jesus will come back to take His Christians. God will send Moses and Elijah down (vs3 = the two witnesses) because they have never died but their bodies went straight to heaven and so now they will have to face death. People will recognize them in that day because they will come with a power and God will put a spirit of conviction among the Israelites.

Moses and Elijah will preach the gospel and people will accept them but not Jesus and how many times do you accept people or trust in money or your wife or your pastor or you doctor rather than God Himself? We have been taken to the highest place (like Elijah and Moses went to heaven) and now we are pushed to come down and talk to people about the gospel. How many people have we redeemed? How many times have you accepted these people to be a part of your life?

People will stone them and how many times because we are looking for pride we stone or step on others? They accepted to be stoned for the truth and when you get pressure from the world, your boss, your neighbor, how do you react? God will measure your love, patience, self-control. Sometimes we act like Gentiles and forget that God is our Father, we can only see the negatives in people and we make assumptions but we must look for the positives and seek truth not assumptions.

If we want God to use us we have to prepare ourselves and to prepare ourselves we have to measure God’s work in us and measure ourselves.

SUMMARY

1. We have to measure ourselves but not everything

2. We don’t have to measure our outer beauty, money or intelligence

3. We have to preach the gospel

4. When we are stoned for the gospel, God will measure our reaction and our love
