WOMEN - THE HOLY SPIRIT
Women were created for Adam as a "helper". The Holy Spirit is also called a "helper".
Genesis 2:18, "Then the Lord God said, 'It is not good for man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him."
John 14:16, "And I will ask the Father and He will give you another Helper, that He might be with you forever."
The Holy Spirit was given to us, so was Eve given to Adam.
Romans 5:5, "God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us."
Wives cannot carry prayers of the husband directly to God, and they cannot give gifts. Only the Holy Spirit can do that.
But the wife can be like the Holy Spirit in many ways.
John 16:13, "But when the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose it to you what is to come."
John 16:14, "He will take of Mine and disclose it to you."
Mathew 27:19, "While sitting on the judgement seat, his wife sent to him saying, 'have nothing to do with that righteous man; for last night I suffered greatly in a dream because of Him."
The role of the wife is to "help" the husband to see spiritual truths that he may not have otherwise seen.
John 16:8, "And when He comes, he will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness and judgment."
Psalm 119:75, "I know O Lord that Thy judgments are righteous."
Galations 6:1, "Brethren, even if a man is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness."
The role of the wife is to "help" her husband to see where he must change. He must be humble enough to listen, accept and then change. Obviously she must also be humble and ready to hear where she should also change. The wife will be more "helpful" if she listens to her husband and changes accordingly.
The Holy Spirit never argues with the Father and the wife must never argue with her husband.

Love never fails."
DOES NOT BRAG - the Holy Spirit never talks about Himself
LOVE IS NOT ARROGANT - the Holy Spirit knows His role
James 4:16, "As it is, you boast in your arrogance, all such boasting is evil."
LOVE DOES NOT ACT UNBECOMINGLY - the Holy Spirit came as a dove
1 Peter 3:1-4, "In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior. And let not your adornment be merely external - braiding of the hair, wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God."
Judges 14, "Get her for me, she looks good to me."
I believe she looked good not physically but because she had a gentle and quiet spirit.
DOES NOT SEEK ITS OWN - the Holy Spirit seeks to do the will of Jesus
I Corinthians 10:24, "Let no one seek his own will but that of his neighbor."
I Corinthians 10:33, "I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit but the profit of the many, that they may be saved."
Ephesians 5:22,23, "Wives be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He himself being the Savior of the the Body."
The role of a wife to "help" her husband is to submit in humility.
There cannot be two heads in a family. This will be like a siamese twin with two heads. Which direction will the body take if two heads are deciding? There will be confusion!
LOVE NEVER FAILS - the Father has sealed us with the Holy Spirit.
PATIENCE - the Holy Spirit is patient with us and is not discouraged. The Holy Spirit doesn't become angry over small issues (who cares if your husband leaves the dirty towel on the bathroom floor).
KINDNESS - He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men (Lk 6:35). A wife needs to show kindness at all times to her husband even if she doen't think he deserves it. She should welcome him home every time with joy and kindness.
GOODNESS - everything God does is for our good. Everything a wife does should be for the good of her husband and others.
FAITHFULNESS - God always keeps His promises. A wife should always tell her husband the truth and should always keep her promises.
SELF-CONTROLLED - God cannot contradict the Truth. A wife must be able to control her emotions and her way of speaking so that she continue always to be a helpful to her husband and not make his life more difficult.
JEALOUS - God is jealous in a good way. A wife should not be jealous.
Women must be helpful according to the Word of God!

The Wife of a Servant of God (Part III)

Luke 17:28-30; Genesis 18 & 19
When Lot’s wife was turned into salt, Lot carried on with his two daughters, and because salvation is personal Lot didn’t look to see where his wife was neither did the daughters and they all continued forward and arrived somewhere.
Later on the daughters got their father drunk in order to sleep with their own father. It is written in Leviticus that to sleep with your father is forbidden. The oldest daughter influenced the youngest one and this is always the way with women who are wives of servants of God. You! Who are adults, why do you influence the younger ones to sin? You know that this is a sin, but you say Hayley go and do that and this, this is a short cut if we pray for five years we are just wasting our time, just take the short cut. Maybe Ange will say, oh Zoe don’t do it that way do it another way. To the extent that the oldest Christian used the youngest one to spy on other Christians, first they are friends and then your job is to go and check to see where Michael went and you are to come back and give me a report, and you will go and do this. Just because of curiosity, because I want to know what is going on around me, I will start controlling the physical life of everybody instead of looking at their spiritual side in order to help them. And when you’ll have your report, you’ll judge the people involved. Who are you to judge God’s servants, who gave you this authority? This is exactly where curiosity leads.
So Lot’s daughters misled their father, they got him drunk and then they did what they wanted. You, who are wives of servants of God or maybe you will be one tomorrow, never get your husbands drunk with your nice words, don’t mislead your husband with flattery because they might fall and sin. There are examples in the Bible; Jesus’ mother Mary, the Bible says that Mary was pregnant, although Mary was pregnant she always submitted to Joseph. Mary was carrying God in her stomach, but she was not proud, she was very gentle, she fully obeyed Joseph even though Joseph was just a carpenter. She didn’t say, God visited me and who are you! She was submitted and when Joseph said we are going left she would go left. The Bible doesn’t say that they discussed because Joseph also had a mission for Mary’s life.
But today what can we see with the wives of servant’s of God. You will see instead of the husband deciding, the wife is there first of all, “no, no why that? Shut up”. Even in front of other men you’ll say, “no, shut up you cannot say that”, and the husband will be humiliated. Do you know who you are married to? He is a servant of God, respect him. It’s a grace because most women want a servant of God but they never find him, many say, I want to marry someone like you but I didn’t have the opportunity. There are also those who regret to marry pagans. So let’s imitate who Mary was, Mary went with Joseph and she was about to give birth, Joseph looked everywhere and there was no room anywhere, he said to Mary there is only room here for the cows maybe we could stay there and spend the night. Mary humiliated herself, she didn’t say, “don’t you know that I am carrying God in my stomach, I cannot go where the cows are”.
The servants of God’s wives today say, “what, me going over there, no I can’t go over there, it’s really dirty over there, I don’t want to go there, that’s not my standard and I cannot go there”. Wives of servants of God must know their place and where they stand. You are here to fulfil a mission in your husband’s life and you must understand what you are going to do and if you are not careful you risk to be like Lot’s wife and you will stay behind somewhere on your way.
Let’s take another example from the Bible; in the old testament there was Potiphar’s family. Potiphar bought Joseph and Joseph was a servant in his house. Potiphar gave Joseph all the rights in his house except to touch his wife. However, Potiphar’s wife wanted Joseph more than her own husband which led to a problem between Joseph and Potiphar. Because Joseph didn’t have any power in Potiphar’s house and was just a servant, the wife wanted to create division between the two men. So women where is your place? You must serve your husband, you must give all your time to your husband.
When your husband comes home go and open the door for him, don’t send your child to open the door. When he enters, welcome him properly and ask him how he is. But many wives say, “oh you’re just disturbing me now, I’m talking”. This is terrible, the wives of servants of God must know their responsibilities, not to mislead men of God and they must try to put everything at its place.
SUMMARY
- Salvation is personal so carry on even when others stop
- The wife of a servant of God must not influence others is a wrong way
- The wife of a servant of God must serve her husband

The Wife of a Servant of God (Part II)

Luke 17:28-30; Genesis 18 & 19
The Bible says that when the angel pulled Lot into the house all the others were blinded. Now the wrath of God had to come. The angel of the Lord said, “go and leave this place, it is now time to leave this city.” The Bible tells us that Lot wasn’t very happy to leave Sodom, God wanted to save Lot but Lot hesitated, he wasn’t sure. How much do we also hesitate to leave sin? How many times does God ask us to leave our sin, and we think that if we leave this sin we will lose something. So the angel of the Lord pushed Lot and said go and see your family and tell them to get ready.
The Bible says that Lot went to see his son in law and he told him that God will destroy this city so we have to leave now, but he didn’t listen. Lot forgot about his neighbours who were around. Lot forgot the church of God in this city. Lot forgot all the people who were sinners in this city, Lot forgot even to ask for forgiveness for the others as Abraham did.
This is exactly what we Christians do today. “Ah! I’ve received this, this is mine and whether you receive something or not it is just your own business”. We are even selfish with God’s Word, to preach we think, “hmm, I am going to preach on Sunday, what am I going to say because I will be paid for that, oh actually I should have gone somewhere and worked so that I can have money but now I have to preach”.
The Bible says that we have received freely and we must give freely but some people want to lock themselves up with the Word of God and they can not see that others are in danger and they can not see that God will soon destroys things that are around and they can not see that everybody will be judged tomorrow. They think “because I know God’s Word I will just share it with my children and my wife only or maybe my son in law but not with people I don’t know”. God is very much against this, God wants every soul to hear the good news and any soul that will accept this good news will be saved. So why don’t we give the word of God to others?
Some people sing today and from time to time I ask for CD’s or tapes because I can not buy them. Those people who have been given a gift to sing, instead of giving this gift freely they change this gift and use it for business; you have received freely give freely. To go to a concert you must pay and if a pastor is preaching there you must pay to get in, where are we going? Lot was in this situation, however God didn’t look at that, He forced Lot to leave and He said to Lot you must leave this city. God showed Lot where to go but Lot said, “no God I’m not going there it is too far, I’d like to go to this village because it’s closer” (Gen 19). That is how God’s servants are proud and they even resist God Himself. God says something and the servant of God says no I want that. Who are you to resist the Lord, who are you to oppose God’s order, are you God’s master or are you His servant? Men must know his place.
Now the angel of the Lord said now it is time to go. The Bible says that Lot took his two daughters and his wife with him. He was told they cannot look behind. The wife started to have curiosity in her heart. Curiosity said, “you are looking ahead of you but there is something behind, just turn around and have a look”. Because curiosity was very alive in her life, the Bible tells us that she turned around and she remained there. We can find that most wives of servants of God have this problem, they are very curious. Just look around, they might be the pastor’s wife, an evangelist’s wife, or another servant of God’s wife but they are very curious. This is their first battle and most of them are weak on that point. “Oh! Who is going there, is it Guillaume?” The wife will confirm that yes it is Guillaume and she will forget that she is with her sheep and she will stand up and have a look around. After confirming that yes it is Guillaume she will say, “what is he doing?”, and after that she will think “why is he doing that?” So you will see step by step because of curiosity the wife will be distracted and she will lose what she has. So, servants of God’s wives, avoid curiosity.
SUMMARY
- The wife of a servant of God must leave sin behind
- The wife of a servant of God must share what they have with others (esp. Word of God)
- The wife of a servant of God must use their gifts freely and not expect to be paid
- The wife of a servant of God must avoid curiosity
We can all apply these principals even if we are not wives.

THE WIFE OF A SERVANT OF GOD

God’s word says that men will not live by bread alone but he will by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Most parents are worried about what their children eat and spend all their time going to work so that their children can have some bread because they want to be responsible for their children’s lives. God also, is responsible of the lives of His children (us). He also does everything He can so that we can eat bread, He works hard so that we won’t lose weight by being hungry, He works hard so that we will not be malnourished. God gives us food with protein and vitamins so that we will have perfect health in Christ. However, the one who doesn’t have this perfect health; it is now the time to go to a specialist so that he can tell you what kind of food to eat so that you can be spiritually healthy.
Luke 17:28-30, before Lot went to Sodom and Gomorrah he was somewhere else with his wife and Abraham. There was a problem that came up and instead of sorting this problem out with Abraham, he decided to do something which might have been against Abraham’s will and against the will of God. The problem that was there was not Abraham or Lot’s problem; it was a problem between Abraham and Lot’s servants.
Lot had his shepherds likewise with Abraham. Instead of Lot sorting the problem out with his servants, he went to see his wife for advice and she said something like, “I can see that something is wrong with Abraham because we depend on him and he always puts us down, I think that now it is the time to leave Abraham and let him go to the right”(this is what the theologians say happened). From there Lot was influenced and decided to leave Abraham. We can see how much Lot’s wife has played a bad role in Lot’s life. Lot forgot all what Abraham had done for them and was now saying that they wanted to get rid of him. Maybe we could understand better if Abraham had beaten up one of Lot’s children, but because of animals men want to leave each other. What kind of men are servants of God? If the theologians are right and this story is true then Lot’s wife advised Lot badly.
As for you, if you are the wife of a servant of God or you will be the wife of a servant of God tomorrow, then think about it and know what is going to happen, you must know exactly what to tell your husband. Think about where you are and think also about the will of God, think, if I advise this to my husband will it please God or not and if not then just leave it.
So Lot left Abraham and went, we all know the story, Lot went and settled in Sodom which was just beside Gomorrah, it was a cursed city, a city that God didn’t like, a city that was dishonourable before God and God never liked this city. Ezek 16:48-50, we can see clearly that God didn’t like this city, pride was there.
We can see that this city reflects many women today who are the wife of a servant of God. For example, a wife of an evangelist or the wife of a pastor is proud. They don’t think of the poor and needy, they are selfish in everything and sometimes think of themselves as higher than others. In this case, God will not be with this wife. It is the same as Sodom, the Bible says that Sodom had beautiful grass, it attracted Lot to go there but in this city there was something that God didn’t like at all. A pastor can be there, an evangelist can be there and everybody will see that everything is beautiful, there are nice flowers etc, but in his own house there are serious problems that God hates.
God said, “Now I will go and touch this city”, and before going there he went through Abraham and among the three angels that came to Abraham God was there among them also, so Abraham talked with God. When two of those angels went to Sodom (one of them didn’t go) God’s servant Lot knew that they were very important for him and he ran to them. The Bible says that he bowed down and other versions say that he worshipped. Lot insisted that they must stay at his place until the morning and wash their feet.
Lot’s wife didn’t say anything, although Lot had great joy to receive those guests his wife did not, she didn’t say anything. It was to the extent that Lot said, “I am going to make you something to eat” (Gen 19). So Lot said, “I’m going to fix up something for you and you will spend the night here and in the morning you can carry on your way”, so those angels said, “yes we will stay for the night”. Because Lot insisted a lot, they stayed.
So what happened after that, the Bible tells us that something came that night, a group of young and old people went to Lot’s place, they knocked at the door and asked Lot, “where are the people who came here to be with you, we want to know them”. This was something very bad. Lot knew where he was living, he knew that this city was in disorder but he didn’t show the people in this city who is the true God, he didn’t witness and bring life to people around him.
The Bible says that Lot left the house and opened the door and he said to those people, “please be quiet because I am going to explain something to you, instead of giving you those two men I am going to give you my two daughters who are still virgins, you can play with them”. Lot had shut the door behind so that the angels couldn’t hear him talking to the people. Most Christians today do things that are Christian when they are in the assembly of God but when they are away from other Christians or the church, they just close the door behind them and do what the world does. They make as if they are not Christian and start talking like worldly people, they sacrifice the lives of those who are like virgins for Christ and when they do that they hide. But nobody can hide from God so the angel opened the door, he didn’t say anything he just pulled Lot with his hand. It means that nothing on this earth can be hidden, whether you do it during the night or during the day, whether you are in the air or inside the earth, God is always there and His eye will see you.
What happened to all those people in Sodom? Jude v7, Romans 1:26,27, this is something really disgusting, because we can see that what happened in the time of Sodom is what is happening right now. This is just a prophecy that is being fulfilled because Jesus said that what happened in the time of Sodom, you will see it happen again when the Son of man will be here. Today we can see that in every country those things are happening, homosexuality is high, men and women know each other and even in this country where we live, the law protects this practice. If you want to do anything about this, the law will be against you. As a church it is time to open our eyes and see where we are going, we can criticise and say that Sodom was really bad, but where are we? We can also say that Lot was bad by shutting his door and arranging things but where are we? Actually here in NZ there are pastors who are homosexual, in the States servants of God’s wives are lesbians also in Africa, everywhere this exists. They are with us in Church and they preach but when they are outside the church that is the way that they are. When they go and meet with people in the world they speak calmly and they say let’s do something and let’s do that. We can see that the church encourages those things, as Lot encouraged the people that were there and he said in exchange I will give you my two daughters. Today God’s servants do the same thing, they gather men and women and do things like in the world.

- As a wife of a servant of God we must be humble
- As a wife of a servant of God we must advise the husband wisely
- We must obey the Word of God wherever we are
- We have to remember nothing is hidden from God
