Revelation 9 - The Fifth Trumpet - Summary

Psalm 25:14, “the secret of the Lord is with them and He will show them His covenant”. A secret will only be told to special people we trust and are close to. People who receive God’s secrets are those who fear God (those who are closer to God and not far away). To fear God is really simple, it is just a matter of humiliating yourself in front of His Word and then you will start to practice and obey it and God will see that you fear Him and will start to increase your wisdom.


Revelation 9 is a secret that God wants to give to us tonight.

Revelation 9:1-12, those creatures have a leader who is called Abaddon which means, ‘a destroyer’. There is a time coming when God will destroy the world completely, a time when God will bring everything down to the point where the world will be in trouble.

The star that was given the key to open the abyss is satan (Luke 10:18, ‘I saw satan fall like lightning from heaven’). When Jesus came down He went to the abyss and locked satan in and that is where he is at the moment, that is where the dark angels give him reports because he is unable to move. But on that day he will be given the power to open the abyss. One day Jesus met a man possessed by evil spirits (Luke 8:26) and he told them to leave the man and the spirits told Jesus not to send them back into the abyss because there is torment there. The torment is a place where the power of satan is limited, where satan can’t move at all and evil spirits are afraid to go there. Today when we cast out evil spirits, don’t give them the chance to come back again, send them to the abyss, you have got that power and they will go there and be locked forever – to eternity.

When the abyss is open smoke will come out with obscurities which is a sign of the power of satan who will control the entire world and no one will move or stand against that power. These demons who have been set free know that this is the time to enjoy because soon they will go to judgment and because of that God tells them they are not to kill and can only harm the ones who are not sealed.

The demons have a crown on their heads that looks like gold but it is not pure gold, just fake because they want to give the impression to people they are rich so people will follow them.

Their faces will be like human beings which will distract people and cause them not to be afraid because they will think they are just human beings; so why should we fear them? Satan will use people who look just like you and me to destroy the world. The main thing that will draw attention is their teeth that looks like lion’s which would frighten us but we are now familiar to vampire movies and today people are happy to have power like vampires, especially young people. Satan has been preparing the memory and psychology of the young generation so they can be destroyed at that time.

When they fly we will hear them like horses going into battle so that whenever they move we will fear because we will know a danger is coming and this will make us to humble ourselves and respect them. They will intimidate us to the point where we can’t cast them out or take authority over them.

Joel 1 & 2, to find more about these locusts. Locusts are not good insects, whenever they arrive somewhere there mission is only to destroy, we don’t gain anything from them, we just lose (the 8th plague of Egypt).

These creatures will use their tail to sting people like a scorpion and Jesus wants us to understand what He said in Luke 10:19, ‘Behold, I give to you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you’. The type of scorpions Jesus is referring to is the power of demons. When they appear to us they will look like human beings but after welcoming them they will hurt you from behind, therefore don’t be distracted by the appearance of anyone or anything, you must be sure of what is coming after. Demons have a strategy to give us a good impression so we can be attracted and then later on they will give us pain and harm us. As Christians we will not be attacked but what are we doing for the others, how can we protect them?

When a scorpion stings there is first of all pain like a needle then after 4-5 seconds you will start to feel cramp and the pain will start to increase and will go throughout your whole body and there is no medicine that stops the pain from a scorpion. This will continue for five months and maybe 10, 20, 50 times a day you will be stung. If a scorpion stings you, your entire body is sick and you can stay in hospital for 3-4 days so imagine if this process continues for five months. People will start to ask for death but there is no death. And if everyone is being attacked, who will look after whom? This will happen before Jesus comes back, we will see it. After five months God will come back again and will stop them acting and there will be a short time to pass before going to the 6th trumpet.


QUESTIONS

Is the abyss a physical place? Yes

Where is it? At the moment it is hidden by God but during that time it will be opened and everybody will know its location. The abyss is not far away from us.

What is Shoal?  A picture of what we call Hell but at the moment the Abyss is only smoke and pain without fire and one day God will add fire and then it will be called Hell. At that time God will take the whole world and throw it into the fire (Rev 20). It will not consume the bodies but will make them suffer for eternity.

The purpose of the fifth trumpet on earth is to bring people back to Him so people can repent and change their ways but unfortunately they will not.

When Satan is given the key will he be released? No, he will be given the power to coordinate and lead his troops for five months.

Will we be here at that time? Yes

So when Satan is unleashed at that time, that means we have the Antichrist?  The antichrist is already here but at that time power will come upon him to lead the world.

Will we be able to see satan with our physical eyes?  We will not see him because we don’t know his face.

Do demons get a second chance? No, they are already condemned.

SUMMARY

1. When we cast out evil spirits, send them to the abyss for eternity

2. Don’t be distracted by the appearance of anyone or anything, you must be sure of what is coming after

3. As Christians we will not be attacked but what are we doing for the others, how can we protect them?
